New Arts & System Updates


Hey guys, I thought I'd provide a devlog with some of the bigger changes for the next update:

  1. Much more emphasis on dialogue checks. I was already going with that direction with the previous updates, but it was mostly experimental. Now it's more decisive, most unique dialogues have a stat check for either Rhetorics/Deception/Karma/Testosterone/Estrogen/Lore/Intellect/Academics that if passed will provide exp bonuses (and in some cases branch into entirely different dialogue progressions), and those are besides the typical story progression and insanity checks.
  2. Related to the above, like the ghost by the river in Town of Beginnings, there are more teachers for the rest of the stats.
  3. Illfang's Tower remade (just the tower, not the whole mines dungeon following). It's related to the previous sh!tty Nao art changing to the modern, custom Sangsue one.
  4. Now when all characters talk, even the most unimportant NPCs, a name will be displayed in a separate box at the top left of the dialogue box. It used to be pretty messy, with some of the random NPCs speaking with no way to differentiate from narrator descriptions, or the characters with facesets speaking with no names above their dialogues. Now it's either a narrator description, or a character talking with their name listed. (for example when talking to random npcs in the streets of the town of beginnings, it will list "civilian" as character name).
  5. Entering buildings will autotrigger a zoom effect. For buildings like stores and inns it will be a 50% zoom, for dungeons and other places where the player "needs" to see in front of him, a 20%. I swear it's related to immersion and has nothing to do with all the new custom arts I'm getting that I definitely don't want to show off.
  6. Hana and Azar will trigger unique death sounds when they faint in combat. Trying to get in touch with a specific scripter so they can also have their unique sound effects whenever they take damage. As soon as I get Kaliska's voice lines, I'll add them for her too, should be about 2-3 days.
  7. Changed the order in which classes acquire skills, and completely remade the blood magus skills from scratch (some of them now have HP costs as well). Now the Level order in which you receive them will make much more sense (for example no team buff effects until the Levels when you'd recruit Hana).
  8. Almost all buff skills now work for the entire party, not a specific target. That also means that a single enemy caster will empower his entire team instead of just 1 member at a time, so have fun with that.

Stoichion's next order will probably be a CG of one of Azar's new h-scenes, for Yummy I have already ordered customs statues art (all 4 directions), that will act more as tilesets (but since they have 4-directions they could also be used for events, like puzzles.

The pillars that give you estrogen talk about girls liking you less, but will there be other male characters for people who have a high estrogen stat to sleep with?

From non-important NPCs plenty. From important NPCs Bloodfang (Gouki) is the most well-known one.

Will you add a place toward the beginning for people playing that route to change into the female looking character? Just so it makes more sense, instead of going through with the same character sprite that is supposed to be manly when your testosterone is high.

Hm... Doubtful, but one of the future plans is to have the Menu display entire busts instead of just the faces of party members, based on variables. For the other characters, that will mean I can show off the various outfits. For the MC it means I will probably have Stoichion make 3 versions of him: Estrogen/Neutral/Testosterone. The sprite will remain the same, the busts will be different.

One of the things that really worked out narratively by pure chance, is the MC's obsession with his ponytail. The long hair can either be interpreted as feminine, for estrogen builds, or as a barbarian/warlord for testosterone builds (or as just narcissistic for neutral).

Anyway, the different busts for the MC I will eventually have Stoichion make will feature more or less the same clothes, but with noticable differences (For example I've been thinking of the testosterone build to feature a goatee. Another example is earrings. As neutral he will have them on both ears, as estrogen only on the right ear, as testosterone only on the left. He will also have more or less muscle, that sort of thing.).

The old female sprite probably won't be making a comeback.

That's a great amount of progress! I can't wait for the next update.

Will the diaper be a certain part of the outfit, or will there be a moment when you can decide whether to include it or not?

Azar (exclusive route for blood magi, reminder) has 2 ways to romance her (basically 2 different variables that directly oppose each other).  When you first meet her she is somewhat insecure (which leads to a lot of stupid decisions on her part, you'll see in the next update). You can choose to either taker her seriously, which builds her self-confidence, which is the vanilla romance, or feed into her insecurities and treat her like a child, which is the "evil" romance. The diaper thing (and most of the more niche kinks with her in general) is only present in the evil romance, but it won't be optional with that route.

In general I've tried to have a different kink for each of the girls to give them more variety. One thing I found boring in Visual Novels in the past, while I was working as a reviewer, was when all routes led to the same basic stuff on the bed. I've put plenty of effort to have all the h-events be unique in BR. For Azar it's kissing and cowgirl for the vanilla route, diapers and spanking for the evil route. Each of the girls works with her own 2 basic kinks, more or less.
